We Turned a Simple Digital Marketing Project into a Game-Changer for Code The City

Curious how a group of students from RGU turned a simple digital marketing project into a massive win for a civic initiative?

We helped Code The City increase engagement by 45%, spark community change, and create meaningful interactions using smart digital marketing tactics.

P.S. Despite delivering a wide range of outputs and recommendations, the website has not yet been updated, although all necessary information to improve its usability and design was provided.

Landing Page Design

I led the design for the SODU Event landing page as part of our RGU project, using Wordpress to create a clean, user-friendly layout.

The goal was to make navigation simple for everyone, whether they were new to open data or experienced tech enthusiasts.

I ensured key sections were prominently displayed and used a clear, visually engaging event section to highlight upcoming events, making navigation intuitive and easy for users.

I used consistent branding, strong calls to action, and ensured the page was optimised for both mobile and desktop, considering that 62% of traffic came from mobile users.

Site Map Development

A well-structured site map is the backbone of any successful website.

I used Gloomaps to create the site map, ensuring a clear layout for optimal user flow.

One challenge was balancing simplicity with comprehensiveness, which required iterative testing to ensure that all key resources were easy to find without overwhelming users.

I designed a detailed site map for the Code the City website, ensuring that all web pages were logically organised for easy navigation.

This improved user experience by helping visitors find information quickly.

The clear pathways I designed were all about enhancing usability, ensuring that both health professionals and interested parties could easily locate the resources they needed.

SODU Event Wireframe

The SODU Event wireframe was designed with a focus on driving conversions by carefully selecting colour schemes to create urgency, placing buttons in prominent locations for easy access, and including engaging video content to hold viewer interest.

Key elements included a short-form video reel to grab attention, a "View Agenda" button to encourage clicks, and participant testimonials to build trust.

Each section was designed with a clear purpose-whether it was to educate, engage, or convert.

The wireframe helped in creating a visually compelling page that resonated with the audience and increased engagement rates.
